The Skin I'm In: It's Rough

11/03/2018

Every morning I wakeup. I brush my teeth. Do my 30  HIIT Workout and then I look in the mirror.

In that mirror, a reflection of life stares at me. My body perpetrates child birth scars, prechildbirth cellulite, and childhood stains. (Please do not mistake me, I wear each mark with pride--especially my c-section scar.) My skin care routine has allowed these blemishes to heal appropriately and my skin looks beautiful.

I love warm water in the shower, I stand there and let the water envelop my entire body just to relax my muscles. The soap I use: African Black Soap. When you buy it, it comes as a large huge bar; I choose to liquidate it.

The instructions are as follows:

- Hot water that has been boiled,

-African soap pieces (I break mine up by hand),

-10 drops of tea tree oil, and

-10 drops of Aloe E.

-Combine these ingredients in a mason jar, shake lightly, and let sit over night.

After my standing in warm water for ten minutes reflecting on life, I lather up and then rinse off with cool water.

Rinsing off with cool water is important because it closes your pores, helps tighten lose skin, and boosts your metabolism.

Now, it is time to pat dry with a towel and moisturize. I have also created a whipped Shea Butter.

The ingredients are as follows:

- 1/2 cup Shea Butter,

- 1/2 Coconut Oil,

- 10 drops of Lavendar Oil, and

- 10 drops of Almond Oil.

-I choose to whip the ingredients together with the end of my comb (this mixture works great for my hair as well).

I used to use this mixture on my face. I stopped because it was too heavy.

Plain coconut oil works delightedly for my face.

Things to remember:

- A little goes a long way (for both the soap and moisturizer).

- If you still feel oily 20-30 minutes after using the moisturizer, pat dry with a towel. More than likely you used too much (a little goes a long way).

Get dressed as normal and go on about your day. Remember you deserve to look and feel good, Queen.
